DELAWARE BAY & ATLANTIC OCEAN

The Fisherman's Wharf is an ongoing passion driven by two things: Four generations of Parson Family commitment and the beautiful, bountiful waters we've fished and cruised since the 1930's. A fishing and sightseeing paradise, these waters are rich with history, teeming with a vast array of fish and other aquatic species and waiting for you to share in and become a part of its legacy.

The Delaware Bay

The Delaware Bay is bordered by the states of New Jersey & Delaware and reached depths of more than 150ft. It mixes fresh water with the salty brine of the nearby Atlantic Ocean and is part of the second most travelled maritime trade routes in the United States. Home to the largest breeding ground of horseshoe crabs in the world, it is also and watershed and estuary and its ecosystem provides a key stopping point for more than 30 types of migrating sea birds. It is also home to maritime firsts and engineering marvels: the Inner & Outer Walls aka, the Icebreakers. Created at a time when shipping by boat was the most common point of trade, the walls were designed to keep seagoing ice at bay as well as provide safety for passing ships, hence its other name, the Harbor of Refuge. As impressive as this is, the Delaware Bay is about more than facts and statistics, its about experiencing the glory of this incredible, one-of-a-kind waterway and taking the time to appreciate us having the ability to enjoy it.

The Atlantic Ocean

The Atlantic Ocean is the second largest of the world's Great Oceans and a treasure trove of gifts, historical, biological and even fantastical. From its role in WW2 to the incredible animals that call it home, to the works of fiction it has inspired for many great novelists, it is an incredible, living entity. We're fortunate enough to bump into it, everyday, quite literally in fact, as the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean at the Point of Delaware's Cape Henlopen. The beaches that line it are among some of the most popular for sun bathing, swimming, fishing and watersports of all kinds. It is also a boaters dream and, in our case, a real connection to the harrows of WW2, as the lookout towers along the beach can attest.
