With
the weather the way that it has been it is really hard
to think about fishing. Winter seems to be here despite
what the calendar says however if you are willing to
brave the elements you still stand an outstanding chance
of catching a fish.
Striper fishing this past week can best be
described as good to excellent. All hell has broke loose
with these fish over the past couple of weeks providing
anglers with some of the finest Rock fishing of this
fall season. Fish ranging in size from the little guys
of 20 inches or more to some of the big slobs that tip
the scales at well over 20 pounds have treated anglers
on every trip this past week. Beautiful weather and
scores of boats may have hampered the weekend bite,
however there were still a lot of fish caught.
The
mouth of the Bay seems to have been the hot spot. Rips
both in the deep and shallow water seem to be holding
good numbers of Rockfish right now. While some days
the bite has been a little temperamental time wise with
tidal or drift conditions, these fish are around right
now and they should continue to bite in the next few
weeks.
We are scheduled to fish for Stripers daily
until the 8th of January but with the weather being
the way it has been getting away from the docks on some
days is a challenge. Keep an eye on the weather and
pick the best days that you can and odds are good that
we will be going out.
Wreck
fishing for the 2005 season will come to a close this
weekend. I have personally only been out a couple of
days this past week fishing for the Tog and the results
were hit and miss. Sponsorship has been going hand in
hand with the weather prohibiting us from getting out
midweek. Saturdays trip and cloudy water saw a very
slow bite for angler’s with top hooks only landing
a few Tog. Sunday’s trip fared much better with
good action almost all day. Several anglers would land
their limit of ten Tog on Sunday’s trip with the
biggest fish weighing in at just over nine pounds, of
course there were a few anglers that found out the hard
way that fishing for Tog is not a very good spectator
sport! If Mother Nature gives us a break for the upcoming
weekend there is the potential for some very good fishing
for our last weekend for the year.
As
our season comes to a close we are already thinking
about the upcoming year. Our new schedule should be
ready by early January and I would expect Wreck trips
to begin sometime late in February or early March. Both
long-range trips for Jumbo Sea Bass and inshore trips
for Blackfish will be on the schedule. As soon as these
dates are determined we will have them posted on the
website.
Remember this is the last weekend that we will
be Wreck fishing until next year if you want that last
Tog fix. Striper fishing will continue on into January
providing a few more opportunities to catch these fish.

Until Next Week Happy Fishing!
